Intimate Transactions is an interactive exhibition in which visitors can interact with a person in Mildura through a virtual space. Each participant uses a physical interface called a "Bodyshelf". By gently moving their bodies on this 'smart furniture', they instigate 'intimate transactions', which influence an evolving 'world' created from digital imagery, multichannel sound and tactile feedback. Interaction cost $5. (Bookings required). Individual viewers and school groups are welcome. Group bookings available. Volunteers required - please contact elaine.miles@frankston.vic.gov.au. Learn to juggle! Each month new and experienced jugglers meet to practise and develop their skills. $5 per session, bookings not needed (1 x 1hr 30min session). Sessions will be held outside subject to fine weather. 12:30pm - 2:00pm

This major exhibition travelling from the Art Gallery of South Australia focuses on the Australian tonalist painter, Max Meldrum and his school. The exhibition includes the work of seventeen artists and provides an unprecedented opportunity to re-evaluate Meldrum's effect on the development of Australian modernism and to evaluate its bearing on successive generations of Australian painters. Fulcrum continues the McClelland tradition of initiating major outdoor exhibitions in the Sculpture Park. It features one of the most ambitious collections of outdoor kinetic sculptures, created by the New Zealander artist Phil Price (born 1965, Nelson, NZ) over a two year period. Sunday 23 November is the perfect time to grab a picnic and head to the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne.
Families and friends will be able to take part in a program of free activities to celebrate the launch of the Woodland Picnic Area, the Garden Grubs Kids’ Club and the brand new 4 kilometre bike track that winds its ways through the native bushland of the Royal Botanic Gardens. Come along to learn how to play a didgeridoo, have your face painted, enjoy a free sausage sizzle or participate in a variety of fun games and activities run by Camp Australia.
The Woodlands Picnic Area has been designed by landscape architects Urban Initiatives and is one of four projects that make up the second stage of the Australian Garden. Its large open grasslands, barbeques and a children’s playground make it the perfect spot to enjoy family entertainment. The bushland vegetation provides shade and beauty, while new planting around the picnic site may give you ideas to try at home.
Primary school children are also well catered for with the launch of THE GARDEN GRUBS KIDS’ CLUB, a club designed and run by the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne for children from 5 – 10 years old. Come along on the 23rd November for your chance to meet the club’s cheeky mascot, Grubby, the Garden Grub.
Becoming a member of the garden Grubs Kids’ Club entitles a child to a backpack full of goodies, including a Grubby passport, a water bottle, gardening tools, stickers, regular newsletters, invitations to members-only events and a birthday e-card. Members will also be invited to special Grubby days, and receive sneak peaks of school holiday programs before everyone else. Membership costs $20 a year per child. Members are able to sign onto the ‘Grubby’ website to play games and put their nature knowledge to the test.

To celebrate his arrival in Australia on 24 November, 1886 we present on Monday 24 November, the Sir George Tallis Oration, this year presented by Anna French - My Most Enjoyable Career. Anna will discuss her relationship with the legendary designer Kristian Fredrikson, who was an early mentor, collaborator and friend. She is currently establishing The Kristian Fredrikson Scholarship For Design in The Performing Arts as an ongoing memorial to Kristian, who was one of Australia's most distinguished performing arts designers.
