Beast Mode

Arts and Culture Frankston

Description

Born, raised and living in Frankston, Sheldon says he’s always had a keen interest in all forms of art, whether on paper, canvas or concrete. He has been an artist for 20-plus years, starting as a kid that loved to draw and became infatuated with painting of any sort

Description

Sheldon is a local Frankston artist who’s street art has been commissioned by councils, schools and business owners. He transitioned from graffiti to murals in 2000 when a local business owner commissioned him to paint his first legal wall to cover unsightly graffiti.

Over the past year Sheldon has been working closely with Frankston City Council, largely with Frankston Youth Services helping to run RAD-FMP (Responding to Alcohol & Other Drugs Frankston Mornington Pennsula), a program devised to instill confidence and a sense of accomplishment through completing a course of aerosol based art.

Taking on mural commissions means that Sheldon is working across a wide range of subjects, especially lettering, in response to a diversity of setting. From fish and chip shops to gyms, boats to trucks and cafes with different. He says that “anything with a surface is a good canvas”.

Sins One works with aerosol paints.

This piece's focal point is a comic book based character themed to have a positive message. The message being “Beast Mode” another way of saying “Get it done” very commonly used these days. The bottom of the wall is letter based or in this case numbers 3199 (Frankston post code) in the colours from the sky to balance the wall.
