SHARE IN THE ACCLAIMED SPECTACLE OF PRIZE FIGHTER Get ringside for a rare theatrical combo: engrossing storytelling paired with the visceral thrill of live boxing. Prize Fighter is adrenaline-pumping, full-contact theatre at its best. La Boite Theatre Company and Brisbane Festival’s highly acclaimed theatre production, Prize Fighter is coming to the George Jenkins Theatre at Monash University’s Peninsula campus as part of MLIVE’s program of events from 26 – 27 October 2018. Fleeing the Congo as a child, playwright Future D. Fidel lived in a Tanzanian refugee camp for eight years before being granted refugee status in Australia. Prize Fighter is inspired by his own story and those of the people he has known. Isa is a young Congolese boxer blazing an impressive career between the ropes. Gearing up for the national title fight, he soon discovers it’s not just his opponents he has to outdo, but the demons from his tortuous past as a boy soldier. Following the rapturous public and critical response that greeted its seasons at recent Brisbane and Sydney Festivals, Prize Fighter is a rare treat for audiences and comes to Monash University for a strictly limited season. Tickets are on sale now, to book or for more information visit www.monash.edu/mlive/whats-on/events/prize-fighter.
