See the premiere of ten thought-provoking one-act plays and performance pieces by local and national theatre-makers, at Arete:Epsilon - an innovative annual One-Act Play, Performance and Visual Arts Festival, where all artistic works respond to a set quote; allowing artists to manifest unique thought and create something extraordinary for audiences of all ages. This year’s quote is "Happiness is beneficial for the body, but it is grief that develops the powers of the mind" and with an incredible array of works that have been submitted for this year’s Festival, you will be assured that you will laugh, you will cry, you will be entertained and you will have plenty to discuss afterwards – just what the theatre should do! Sounds like a perfect night out. Each year a quote is chosen that will allow playwrights, musicians, visual artists and theatre makers to respond in any way they are drawn to and with that we offer a remarkable Festival that is complete with many varied interpretations on this year’s quote and will provide two thought-provoking and entertaining night’s at the Cube37 at Frankston Arts Centre in May. This year’s quote comes from Marcel Proust, a French novelist, critic and essayist, best known for his monumental novel, "In Search of Lost Time" and considered by writers and critics to be one of the most influential authors of the 20th century. His quote certainly has provided plenty of food-for-thought for our theatre makers and we look forward to welcoming you to join us for an evening like no other at this year’s Arete Festival, brought to you by an award-winning local theatre company, Dionysus Theatre.
