The countdown is on to the 89th Red Hill Show! This iconic event is one of the State's most popular agricultural shows and 2017 is shaping up to be as jam packed as last year. Saturday, 11th March 2017 (Labour Day Weekend) is when the showgrounds will come alive with entertainment for all ages.
As the program unfolds, the shows committee can reveal that the cooking stage will be on fire again this year. Michael Demagistris, Masterchef Semi Finalist will be cooking up a storm. Now a Mornington Peninsula local, Michael runs the successful restaurant East at Mt Martha. From the kitchens of Alinea, Chicago to Noma, Copenhagen, Chef Michael Demagistris has trained under several of the culinary world's most revered chefs. He gathers inspiration from the ocean and land that surrounds us and incorporates these local fresh ingredients in his dishes.
Last year we created the Tastes of the Mornington Peninsula food area surrounding the cooking stage. This year we plan to grow and enhance this local food experience. We are thrilled to have a new category to the cooking schedule this year' said Bec Davis Executive Officer. Red Hill is synonymous with Apples and to celebrate this agricultural past we are introducing Cider to the program.
Start planting your radishes, pruning the roses and grooming the alpacas! Entries are open! From art, craft, cooking and photography to poultry and the ever-popular Dog High Scramble. Get the kids involved this Labour Day long weekend!
Once you have your admission ticket there is so much to enjoy the pavilions will be filled with art, craft, cooking, flowers, fruit and vegetables and the livestock competitions will let you get up close to the animals; children can have their faces painted, enjoy a pony ride, circus workshop, the petting farm and more. The Bata Gumbot Throw was a family favourite that will be back for 2017 along with the highflying stunts of the Mountain Boarders. We are pleased to announce the return of a Victorian Title to the woodchop arena. Some of this country's best competitors will return to the showgrounds ad don't forget the hot chainsaw races! A crowd favourite.
The team from Black Snake Productions will give you a chance to handle some of Australia's native wildlife. Roaming performers, Wacca the Muscial Koala and more offer a full days entertainment.
